Summer Crown Routine

Your Weekly Botanical Hair Care Plan

Summer can be beautiful for the soul—but a little demanding on the crown. ☀️🌿

Between sunshine, heat, humidity, sweat, swimming, protective styles, and more time outdoors, your hair and scalp may need a little extra attention during the warmer months.

But here’s the good news:

Summer hair care doesn’t have to be complicated.

Instead of constantly changing products or adding more steps, focus on a simple routine built around four things:

Cleanse. Hydrate. Nourish. Protect.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistency.

Here’s a simple weekly botanical hair care plan to help keep your scalp refreshed and your strands moisturized, manageable, and protected throughout the summer.

🔬 Education

Why Your Summer Routine May Need to Change

Your hair doesn’t experience every season the same way.

During warmer months, increased sweating can contribute to scalp buildup, while prolonged sun exposure, chlorine, salt water, frequent styling, and environmental conditions may leave strands feeling dry or rough.

And here’s something important:

Adding more oil isn’t always the answer.

Oil can help lubricate the hair and reduce moisture loss, but it doesn’t replace cleansing or hydration.

That’s why a balanced summer routine should address both the scalp and the strands.

Your Weekly Summer Crown Plan

WASH DAY — Cleanse + Condition

Start with a clean foundation.

Gently cleanse your scalp to remove sweat, excess oil, product buildup, and environmental debris. Follow with conditioner, paying particular attention to your mid-lengths and ends.

If your hair feels especially dry, consider incorporating a deeper conditioning treatment when needed.

MIDWEEK — Check + Refresh

Don’t automatically add products just because it’s Wednesday.

Touch your hair.

How does it feel?

If your strands still feel soft and moisturized, leave them alone.

If they feel dry, lightly refresh them with a water-based moisturizing product before applying a small amount of oil if needed to help reduce moisture loss.

THROUGHOUT THE WEEK — Scalp Care

Keep your scalp comfortable and avoid excessive product buildup.

If botanical scalp oil is part of your routine, apply a small amount rather than saturating the scalp.

A gentle scalp massage can also be incorporated into your routine.

NIGHTLY — Protect

Your nighttime routine matters.

A satin or silk bonnet, scarf, or pillowcase can help reduce friction between your hair and bedding while you sleep.

Less friction can mean fewer tangles, less mechanical breakage, and better preservation of your hairstyle.

🌿 Botanical Spotlight

Rosemary

Rosemary has become one of the most recognizable botanicals in modern hair care—but its use is far from new.

Traditionally used in herbal hair and scalp preparations, rosemary is valued for its aromatic properties and its role in scalp-focused routines.

Rosemary contains naturally occurring plant compounds, including antioxidants, which is one reason it continues to be incorporated into botanical hair formulations.

When properly formulated and used as part of a balanced routine, rosemary can complement regular cleansing, conditioning, moisturizing, and scalp care.

And that’s the Greaux Girl™ philosophy:

No single botanical does all the work.

Healthy hair care comes from combining thoughtful ingredients with healthy practices and consistency.

⭐ Crown Review

“The biggest difference for me was finally becoming consistent. I stopped using something for a few days and expecting an overnight change. Once I created a regular wash, moisture, and scalp-care routine, my hair became so much easier to manage. Now I actually look forward to taking care of it.”

— Golden Greaux Customer, Jaz T.

💡 Crown Tip

Don’t Follow the Calendar—Follow Your Crown

Your weekly routine is a guide, not a rigid rulebook.

Before adding another product, ask yourself:

Does my hair actually need it?

✔ If your scalp feels dirty or has buildup → Cleanse it.

✔ If your hair feels dry → Add hydration/moisture first.

✔ If your strands need help retaining that moisture → Follow with an appropriate oil or sealant.

✔ If your hair feels soft and balanced → You may not need to do anything.

✔ If you’ve been swimming → Rinse your hair promptly and cleanse when appropriate.

Learning to recognize what your hair is telling you is one of the most valuable skills you can develop on your healthy-hair journey.

📚

Did You Know?

Your hair’s ends are the oldest part of your strands.

That means they’ve experienced more washing, styling, manipulation, environmental exposure, and friction than the hair closer to your scalp.

Giving your ends extra attention—especially during summer—can help minimize unnecessary breakage and support length retention.

Remember:

Hair growth happens at the scalp. Length retention happens by protecting what you’ve already grown.

💬 Quote of the Week

“Your crown doesn’t need a complicated routine. It needs a consistent one.”

🤎 Commit to Your Crown™

This week, don’t buy another product just because your hair feels “off.”

Instead, spend a little time learning your crown.

Notice when your scalp needs cleansing.

Notice when your strands need moisture.

Pay attention to your ends.

Protect your hair while you sleep.

And most importantly—give your routine enough consistency to learn what actually works for you.

Healthy hair isn’t created by doing everything.

It’s created by doing the right things consistently.

Cleanse. Hydrate. Nourish. Protect.

Then repeat—with adjustments based on what your crown needs.
